Your other option is to pay a firearms exporter which is not legally required at all but they will actually get things across the border without an issue most of the time. I've only ever had to use an exporter to export an antique once and that was Borderview International. They twiddled their thumbs for 2 months instead of just emailing the RCMP or calling them for their required documents for the import and I had to actually get that information for them because they were taking so long and it only took me personally 26 minutes on the phone to get the info I needed. And then they turn around and ask me for 500 US dollars for their export "services".

Some other options are to either have a customs agent or broker handle the export rather than a firearm exporter because their fees tend to be a lot lower and as long as you're able to explain that it's a antique firearm and provide them with the paperwork they shouldn't have any issues exporting it. However, a lot of them as soon as you mention anything Firearms related will immediately hang up the phone more or less. I'd say the majority of package forwarding and brokerage firms in the US that export to Canada will not handle any Firearms even antiques.
