sanitation engineer here. this is basically correct, the trash in central has almost reached 50. I've never seen anyone down there that wasn't on a work crew. I was talking to some superintendents a while back and they said the sub basements go down at least a hundred floors. Apparently there's a whole eco system and the air is corrosive, but they're probably full of shit.
