The Taboo Children: "Moroccan Children" in Vorarlberg
Fri, 10 February 2023, 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Fridays at 5 – regional history in conversation
This topic has long been whispered about, mostly simply kept silent: The French army that liberated Vorarlberg from Nazi rule in 1945 and then occupied it for several years included, among others, Moroccan soldiers. They left behind a legacy that had been taboo for many decades: descendants with unusually dark skin. Author Ingrid Maria Kloser has dedicated a story to this taboo, and historian Renate Huber describes how the occupiers dealt with them.
