Seriously some of Nietzsche could be helpful. He's all about how Christianity is Paul's fault because he made victimhood into a kind of immortal saviour and urged people to view themselves as better for suffering, when they could be doing things that might actually make them feel better like taking care of themselves, seeking new ways of having fun or going dancing or for a good walk. You probably don't have to pick up German to get most of it.
