I truly cannot understand it either. The Qur'an is a quite simplistic text, mostly based off of rhyming the ends of words. It can sometimes have a nice interesting sound to it, but I would not describe it as beautiful or inimitable as the Muslims believe. In connection with this, the Qur'an is one of the strangest works of human literature. It feels like a discount version of the Bible, reads very clunky, the dialogue is bad, its phrasing repetitive and simplistic. I simply cannot view the Qur'an as a great work of literature.

The Bible on the other hand is truly sublime in some areas, think of Psalm 23, the discourses of Jesus, the pathos of it all, the humor, the insight into the human condition, the sheer depth of history, authors and genres. I have never read the Bible in its native languages, but the beauty and depth is palpable.

It is the same with the Gita. It is a book of great wisdom, I love to hear the recitation of the Sanskrit, Krishna teaches Arjuna many things that even as a Christian I can concur with. It too is greater than the Qur'an.

The Qur'an is no more than a riff off the Bible in the Arabic tongue, full of Jewish and Syriac Christian influences. A sort of primitive Arab poetry.
