Anyone here familiar with his readings? He was prophetic in many ways and many of his notions seem extremely relevant nowadays. The way he describes the dynamics of the global village reminded me a lot of how we use social media now (there was no internet when he wrote this), and most of the things he says about education in our current environment also ring very true. He also talks about the role of artists in this kind of ever-shifting environment and again it seems to me to be getting almost everything right. The whole discussion of going into the future by looking into the rearview mirror is also extremely relevant to understand phenomena such as righting LARPing (Peterson, Dugin, etc.), or Asians raised in western countries who cosplay as European intellectuals (Waldun, Jonathan Bi). I keep reading him and I cannot find an end to the depth of his predictions, with maybe the exception of the things regarding "auditory" vs "visual" culture" (I'm not entirely sold on the idea that we are returning to a pre-visual world, and I think he's a bit of a victim of a circular or dialectical idea of history here; I'm more inclined to think we're really moving into uncharted territories, once again, just like we did when we invented writing).
Overall, he seems to me a creative and interesting thinker, although maybe a bit frail in his premises and in gathering reliable data.
