Everyone's a selfish scumbag obsessed with material goods, people are judged not by their character or even ability, but by their status and clothes, they're all fake friendly but in actuality hate each other, despite being incredibly similar. They're all deeply insecure and constantly try to outdo each other. There's also the deep disdain for the poor, of course. It's hardly the first book to describe rich people like this, of course, but it's accurate nonetheless. And honestly, the desire to murder is accurate as well, at least to a certain degree. Think of all the moneybags paying a fortune to travel to the other side of the planet just to snipe some caged exotic animal.
