I'm a bit further along now. To be fair, Kingsnorth explicitly says 'the West is not worth saving. It sowed the seeds of its own destruction. We need to build a new culture.' But the chapters where he gets spiritual are utterly cringeworthy. Citing Seraphim Rose, a fairly idiotic normie view of AI, talking about the literal anti-Christ, taking Kurzweil's retarded predictions at face value, etc etc.
He's managed to pull out of that nosedive, though. I'm now moving into the ending with a nice discussion of the Art of Not Being Governed. I don't think he has any actually useful advice beyond platitudes, though.
