At the time, yes; they were fearful of Zionists and their effect on world politics (which make sense, given what it must look like to a country beaten and neutered by the US to watch the US then drop whatever it's doing to protect Israel)
But then decades passed and the problems effecting Japanese people came from Japan itself and not evil Zionists manipulating world politics against them.
