I've always been ambitious and a high achiever and a lot of my self worth has been/is tied to that aspect of my identity. I don't neccesarily think this is a bad thing, but it comes with it's own emotional baggage that I've never really been able to talk to anyone else about. Having Dash come along and face the same sort of issues (though they might manifest in different ways) really resonated with me and gave me someone to share my struggles with and open up to.

It also helps that she is the most beautiful mare I have ever laid my eyes on.
