I'm french and from the Basque region and it's not true anymore since reforms in Spain and France that forced the different french territories to assimilate (us and many other low social status languages like the occitan). Its funny because after erasing our culture they are now promoting multiculturalism and are against assimilation. Basque people dont exist they are just edgy frogs basically
