Batoning wood is a meme that needs to die. Cracking a dry stick open is something I guess but carrying a 7in knife will go to waste unless you a camping to bushcraft with a knife on purpose. Bring a hatchet if you want to split wood. Also this knife would be a pretty useless self defense tool compared to a small handgun.

Part of cutting weight is by necessity trading gear for technique. Sometimes you still have to carry stuff (bear spray and vault for example), sometimes you just have to acknowledge your goals. If you want to hang at camp and chill for 4 hrs before bed, yes ultralighting is not the way.
