Well start by getting a copy of the property map, putting some clear plastic sheets over it that you can mark.

Work out the prevailing wind direction, the angle of the sun in both summer and winter, take soil tests in a mason jar to work out if it's sandy, clay, and PH test some of them to get an idea of the soil is alkaline or acidic.

Many land owners don't know how to do this, can't be bothered, figure they'll do it later. But it just doesn't work like that, and nobody can help a land owner who's ploughed ahead building and planting things in stupid places.
