I'm 55 and recall seeing nuke footage as far back as the early 80s (I might have seen it in the 1970s but can't recall for sure). I've also worked in special effects (both practical and cgi) and been interested in those since I was a kid. I'm skeptical that footage like the bikini atoll tests would have been doable around then with methods like optical printing. How do you think these were done?
