The reason is because men realize that most dudes at singles events are ignored. A guy who goes to a singles event is inherently at a disadvantage by simply being there because it signals desperation. So unless he is particular tall or handsome or whatever, he is likely to be completely ignored by all of the women at such an event, and we can be ignored for free instead of paying $80 for a ticket to be ignored.
