The S-500 is primarily an ABM system. While the smaller of the two missiles of the S-500 is capable of engaging with non-ballistic missile targets, it is not optimized for it. For the shorter ranged air launched ballistic missiles that Israel used during the campaign, the S-300V4 is plenty enough.
The S-500 is geared towards the more longer ranged and high hypersonic missiles. Think of IRBM/ICBM RV's and hypersonic glide vehicles.
