>What's stopping you?
nothing if you really are serious about it. legally your not allowed to stay on "crown" land for more than a certain amount of time in cucknada. personally i say it doesnt belong to the crown it belongs to the people. logistically in the winter you wont be going anywhere so you need to always have good supply. also setting up in these off grid forest valleys is hard. you cant build really anything without some serious deforestation and digging up of all the stumps and roots. the forests are seriously thick and wild in BC, nothing like the tame stuff you find in Ontario. there are freehold pieces of property in BC you can find with dirt/gravel road connection to nearby highways, but most of these dont have utilities setup, so developing a cabin or small cottage there would be tough, even harder to bring in all the materials you need since in winter the gravel/dirt road will be hard to traverse. theres a lot more to get into, and believe me if i could i would. you need to be someone with already a lot of savings and know how if you want to do this.
