Probably because there are actual Nazis within Ukraine and they want to kill Russians. If you have that at your border you deal with it or it destroys you from within. Russians are acting completely logical in their war with Ukraine. It's the U.S. and NATO who are irrationally supporting Nazis and the destruction of a people in order to harm an enemy through proxy.
