Back then seeing bad art was fun for the same reason seeing bad AI is fun, it's just a different time with rose tinted glasses put on. Aesthetics will always reign supreme, regardless of how much "slop" is out there. Tools will exist to help this filtering process, things will get more intricate, it is the way the developed world moves.

It does not, the skill is still there. You can go paint if you want to, or you can cut 3 years of learning down and learn how to get intricate with wording, prompting, and seeds. The skill is just migrated, it's now different, you can manipulate it to the best of your capabilities. This is really a non argument, if you want things to be difficult, choose your own difficulty setting, don't force other people to play on hard mode if they don't want to.
