You’re only venerated for being white in Mexico if you’re Hispanic. Obviously, all of their reporters, media starts, and a disproportionate amount of their high-ranking politicians are either white-passing castizos or fully white criollos, but that doesn’t extend to non-Hispanic white people. The “anglosajon” is treated like a sort of specter, a boogeyman for every shortfall of society, almost like some sort of malevolent or vengeful invisible spirit which is the bringer of woes like in most animist tribal societies. The “Anglo-Saxon” does not just encompass all those of pure English descent, but the overwhelming majority of Northern and Western Europeans, or really all non-Iberian Europeans for that matter, perhaps with the exception of Italians, Greeks, Balkan Slavs, and some Eastern Europeans if they have a distinctly Mediterranean look. The “gringo” and the previously mentioned “anglosajon” are hated, often times without cause. The only real exception to this is French and German people, but only sometimes, because some Mexicans are conscious of the historical French influence, as well as the German diaspora which had an outsized impact on Mexican music.
