Of course I can imagine that, it’s why I know a co-op would be better. Because it will pay its employees better, because they are co-owners and vote in how it is run. Its the Walmart that runs the slave labor shifts with dead-eyes automatons that barely scrape through the day because they are worked into dust to make some redundant middle manager’s quarterly bonus bigger.
That’s how it is at large cooperatives. Look at Mondragon, it pays its employees significantly better. It struggles to recruit outside managers, because it pays executive management significantly worse as a result. Which means Mondragon can only survive by focusing on growth from within (the horror)
