If you read that account it’s stated that the “Goths” mentioned were running from other tribes. So if they told Rome they are Goths, they claim to be running from other tribes, They were the ones who sacked Rome as a result of settling a semi function kingdom in roman lands and the historians later specifically state the visigoths were the ones to sack Rome this implies that 1. They clearly were different than the Ostrogoths even then, and 2. They were likely the caucasian goths because they were running FROM the other tribes. Tribes don’t run and ask for asylum for fun. They do it to leave bad situations.
