okay but literally fucking everything is trying to move to a 'software as a service' model from point of sale machines to the fuel pump regulators in cars. this would require companies to not kill your property when they don't feel like letting you use it anymore. it's a planned obsolescence "you will own nothing and be happy" thing, not just toys.
