You mean like the fork that resulted in Bitcoin Cash/BCH? That still leaves BTC as BTC.
The other two reasons you gave sound like paranoia and I don't even understand why those things happening would make exchanges start calling something else BTC, but I'm also willing to consider that maybe I'm dumb and/or misunderstanding what you mean.
