Here’s a message I sent to someone jokingly trying to get financing but with real numbers.
Poke around and see if you can find a very small number of people to band together in the purchasing of 20M lottery tickets. They are $2 each, final cost is $40,717,040. I need to buy every single combination possible for the 5 digit 1-31 mass lotto, that’s slightly over 20M combinations. I’m willing to do a short term loan with the mob, or Russian mafia, but am hesitant to let them in on the plan as they will literally cut me out of it. I’ve read the MA lotto rules thoroughly, and it has not been outlawed or even addressed yet. Texas lotto previously tried to outlaw it but left a loophole that they’ve recently closed up based on the argument that the most recent group to band together in the mass-purchase of lotto tickets was out of state, which TX says goes against the spirit of the law/game, wherein it is presumed the winner(s) live in state. So I’d like to keep it local if possible. Right now the jackpot is low, $48.2M cash payout on 100K or so, but just in case, one would want to wait for it to be higher, as there historically have been some 2, 3, and 4 way splits of the main prize, though it is rare. Also, by waiting until the Wednesday drawing, you have 2 days to get 20M tickets filled out over online systems, which are allowed in New England states, so it’s super easy to automate. This brings federal oversight though, so ideally it would involve the employment of stupid cheap labor to fill in millions of scantron sheets.
