It’s because EU isn’t willing to sacrifice the European/German Dream (export driven green energy economy built off the backs of imported labor subsidizing the cost of companies like VW doing business in such an expensive country).
I swear I read quite a bit about the expeditionary force when EU leaders and generals were discussing it. It all came down to two things. Nobody wants to actually pay for a rearmament program and when they do pay they would rather bicker on how to score jobs in their home country/county instead of actually creating a military industrial complex.
I don’t blame them as China and USA are corporate hellholes but it is also a little crazy that everyone is plugging their ears and hoping the Baltics won’t be next on the chopping block.
