One thing that genuinely repulses me about China- and other countries too it's not just them, is this conscious effort on urbanization. I really hate it and loathe it. Public transport is a huge part of this.
China actually has a big movement in the last decades to move people out of the podunk areas and get them "integrated into the economy". Its hellish. It makes people easier to control, rootless. The whole thing is ugly. I see this infatuation with bright city lights and public transport as gebuine affliction and disease.
