Empathy is an involuntary response to certain sights and sounds, such as the facial proportions and general frequencies produced by a human child. If you do not feel empathy for a cat, an animal that evolved to elicit empathy to avoid being driven away (in purely material terms, they are a parasite/pest and actually make general sanitation significantly worse while carrying diseases between rodents and humans), and was later selectively bred to be even better at eliciting empathy, you're flat out broken
I can logically acknowledge that cats are useless and border on bein a brood parasite sometimes, but also, be totally unable to kill one
