It's probably easier for government to have you pay a fuckload of money for a lethal injection, instead of using a gun, also you don't even up having a gun you can use for other things too. if you misuse the lethal injection, i.e. poison others, they can trace it back to you more easily than a bullet, and probably isn't even lethal to a human.
There's a lot of stupid ideas that are popular today.
