I was there.
The "equality" in the 70s and 80s and 90s was mostly an illusion. Bill Cosby and Will Smith were on TV presenting a fantasy of black culture when the reality was more like NWA and Public Enemy. Same is true for women and LGBTQ communities. All these groups are still fighting against the system.
