Hitlers strategy was unironically "well kick the door in and they'll just surrender like Frenchmen".
Barbarossa failed to achieve its goals.
Operation Fau Blau to capture the oil fields couldn't even hold Stalingrad. It was over for the Germans by November 42 when the 6th army got encircled. All down hill from there.
