The Bulgarian army gave up after taking 8,000 casualties.
8 fucking thousand and they were out.
There were skirmishes which saw more casualties.
Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Croatia, these guys all could have done more. The Balkan Slavs are a courageous people. With small arms, panzerfausts, and trenches they could have held the red army at the Dniester indefinitely.
