It was Japan's fault. If they hadn't bombed pearl harbour then America would never have entered the war. That combined with failing to secure a truce with Britain before starting on Russia fucked them. Once they conquered France, instead of bothering with Britain in the air, they should have secured a truce with Britain for just long enough to invade and conquer Russia. A lot of the British government were in favour.
