It doesn't matter if you individually own a gun if your army is told to stand down because its officers decided they wont do "the war for the jews" which in our case meant defending the country against a foreign invasion.
Your gun won't do shit if the high command front eats a blitzkrieg, after having decided not to make armored units because they thought training mechanic specialists would spread socialism in the army.
Your individual rifle doesn't matter when the people paid to fight for you are paid to round you up because the high command fears domestic socialism more than an evil foreign invasion.
Large scale politics are what matters, not your meaningless, powerless individual power to do damage.
