Opinions range widely on this. On one hand, he was exposed to Christianity through the Catholic Church, on the other, it is conjectured that he was a Freemason. On balance, he was certainly highly intellectual, and he had an enormous amount of time on hand when he was banished to the remote island of St. Helena. A lot of things to factor in when deciding on the authenticity of the piece. Again, he would have been thinking deeply about life at that point, and what was important.. so, I think it’s very believable that he made a testimonial of this nature.
