It was sold as rescue (eviction at gunpoint) of people who were in many cases happy to leave, then clearing all properties of firearms so looters couldn’t get them. Some stood their ground and the military backed off. NRA brought a lawsuit over it all. The power was illegally claimed by New Orleans city government through emergency powers in a declared natural disaster, and it had all be knocked down in court since. Would be interesting if lethal force was used by citizens to protect their rights how that would have gone down in court.
