I was raised bible belt baptist. In the southern united states.
I've read the bible five times, front to back.
I have led bible studies in a religious context.
I have been to bible camp, and many Christian related religious events and services.
I have also studied theology as a hobby for almost two decades now.
I would not call myself Christian and do not see that ever happening again.
No traumatic event occurred to make me lose my faith, or become "angry" at God. I simply learned too much to let the ignorant bliss that religion provides to hold on to me.
A good question to help you understand why, would be.
Given absolutely no new information, could you possibly believe in Santa Claus again as you once did as a child?
Would it genuinely be possible for you to? Knowing what you know now, and given absolutely no new evidence of his existence, could you believe in Santa again?
It's exactly like that. Assuming your answer is no of course.
Again though, and I cannot stress this enough. If you believe, I absolutely want you to continue doing so. I have no desire to convince you I am right and you are wrong. No need whatsoever to make or want you to examine your faith in the slightest. I truly hope you remain blessed and happy in religion. Whatever that may be.
