I could definitely see that being the narrative. Fuentes has feuded with kirk for years. Nothing they threw at him diminished his growing popularity, so they create public awareness of him with the nyt article just in time to have their groyper shooter activated. Its probably why he didn't do a show last night. More than actual sympathy he probably has legal reasons not to speak out right now until the shooter is identified.
