As I keep trying to explain to people, the issue is not fear or timidity. Our professional middle classes LOVE this. They want to arrest people for hate speech - they see it as like arresting paedophiles. They hate obscenity, racism ect... the way you hate paedophiles and terrorists.
Literally a solid third of the country, those with degrees who work in professional management jobs, just think that racism is on par with child molestation images in terms of how evil it is (I am not exaggerating).
The issue isnt really about lack of rebelliousness or free speech - it is about how bad people see racism as.
