My nigga, what part of what I've said is a lie?
Of course the central government disliked other languages, but compared to other countries like France, Catalans have been incredibly privileged and well-treated historically.
Look up what the French did to their Catalan and Basque-speaking minorities. In the case of the Basques it was almost a genocide.
In France today, if you are a Catalan or Basque speaker and want your kids to go to school in your language, what do you think they'll tell you?
They'll tell you that if you want your kids to study in Catalan/Basque go eat shit and pay it off your own pocket. "We're in France and public school is in French!"
I speak Catalan and respect their culture and history, but it's a fact that as a linguistic minority they've received better treatment than any other one in this entire continent.
Show me any other European country that does and allows as much for ANY linguistic minority than we do for Catalan here.
Show me any other European country that has an entire region where the 100% of public schools are in the regional language, the national language relegated to second place, and you're forced to prove that you speak the regional language to get into jobs as a civil servant or many others in the private sector.
Go on, prove me wrong. I'm waiting.
