kids sense the lack of effort or engagement, the lack of care - and they take the same degree of flippancy and elect to indulge their desire for the candy (which is supposed to be the reward for overcoming the fear of meeting the neighbors) and they just take it all - and how can we really fault them for that? candy is delicious. I wait until the day after halloween to buy it on sale from the grocery store because I'm a responsible adult.
However I also recognize the changing trends and might one day be unable to eat halloween candy because the store managers are getting wise and buying less. they dont want to sell me cheap candy they want to sell people with homes full price candy.
