>Is the venezuelan army good?
When it comes to south american militaries, generally, there's one or two things that they are *good* at, while mostly "patching holes" in other regards. Chile, for instance, has a decent modernized navy, arguably the best in latin america (exept for its size). Colombians have an almost unique jungle warfare know-how that makes it so other militaries like the French and the US send units to go train there (Brazil has that too, alongside the biggest airforce), etc. Venezuela specifically has the best AA in South America. This is due to their long distance launchers like the Russian S-300s and a multitude of smaller, portable systems that are equivalent to the American MANPADS. This prioritising of AA assets is something that fits the Venezuelan geography VERY well, since their large jungles make foreign land incursions unlikely. Another thing to consider is the fact that most large urban areas in Venezuela are close to the coast - at first glance, a vulnerability, but on closer inspection, on a prolonged conflict on which they cannot be taken over by storm, those areas become like fortresses. A tendency first seen in WWII on battles like Leningrad and Stalingrad, and nowadays on Ukraine. On a last case scenario, where a foreign force somehow manages to achieve a foothold, the Venezuelan troops would still be able to melt into the jungle and fight from there. This, of course, would all depend on the Venezuelan peoples willingness to fight, which is not necessarially guaranteed.
