Definitely. There are so many ways that this can go wrong. I think that's the main reason why US Joints Chiefs briefed Trump on first giving a carte blanche to the CIA to have a plan A, B, C, D, etc. to enact regime change. And that, just like in Syria, goes through establishing backchannels to generals through third parties, which would then bribe them. That's the only way that mutts know how to “fight”.
