ChatGPT is more powerful and you also have LLMs oriented towards research. They give you the citations as well. Make it less suspicious by changing up writing style and make a grammar and spelling error here and there.

The reason to memorize is to pass the written exam. You don't have the internet or a LLM next to you for that.

This usually means essay writing, the thing that has always been the most easy to cheat. It used to be a decent tool for learning though, but with how easy AI generated texts could pass I think it's time to introduce more written test, less essay writing.

Uni is there to validate acquired skills. In the exact sciences if you can pass a math exam successfully you'll have mastery over the material. A quick no brained LLM can't really replicate that knowledge reliably.
