It's even more insidious than that. The reason Europe had a smart meter rollout was down to an EU directive. When I joined the smart metering team we were given loads of documents to read, one of which contained that nugget of info, When you follow up the directive on the EU website you read that all nations in the EU are to surrender their energy departments to Brussels where two agencies will take over, one called the Dept of Energy and the other referred to only as The Agency. These two organisations would then have overlordship of the entire European energy generation and distribution grid. National energy departments in each nation would be dissolved.
That was Europe, given smart metering is rolled out worldwide this is all part of one world government system they're pushing on us, along with digital ID and digital currency which has an expiration date.
