I understand that part, but apparently there are ways to fund SNAP that don't require the shutdown to be called off, e.g. pull funds from somewhere else. As far as I can tell, this is just alienating poors and niggers against Trump. But maybe that doesn't matter, and the Republicans are hoping the unrest will eventually turn back on the Dems? I'm just wondering if anyone has a clearer take on this.
