It really is this simple. Things are getting suckier, constantly, because this makes businesses more profitable and therefore investors/owners of those businesses can make more profits while the well placed managers or executives in them can receive greater compensation/paychecks
People who still refuse to acknowledge that the obsession with profit chasing is the cause of things getting suckier and suckier are just deluding themselves at this point.
