I worry what will happen if hundreds of thousands or even millions of people lose their jobs in a short amount of time. I remember having a discussion with someone on 4chan about universal basic income back in 2020. My take back then was that if it were to happen, it would be due to automation making many people lose their jobs, but that such a possibility was decades away. I wonder if people will start talking about it seriously if the economy gets even worse + AI replaces most basic jobs.
