I would bet hundreds of dollars Putin will never cede any land to anyone. He's a totalitarian dictator, ceding land is not something they do, for anyone and for any reason. Russia is still a nuclear power and can cause significant headaches for China. China cannot just roll into Siberia and take it, no matter how superior their armed forces are. Putin is trying to expand the footprint of Russia, not reduce it, so he is remembered like the Tsars of the classical era. Losing 1/3rd of the landmass of Russia, for no compensation, is not going to get him favorably remembered by anyone.
