The Japs do the big dogeza to anything that will help them earn money for their companies. They put business first, to their credit, and NJPW has benefited massively on a financial level from the partnership in a way that is measurable. The loss of wrestlers as assets is much more difficult for the suits at Bushiroad who doesn't know the wrestling business to understand. They just see the money coming in from Forbidden Door or whatever and think it's a good thing and NJPW itself is entirely at the mercy of the Bushiroad suits.
Tanahashi is just a figurehead.
